Bombay High Court rules on a woman's right to have or not to have an abortion.
The Bombay High Court allowed the termination of a 33-week pregnancy.
A 33-week pregnant married woman's right to dignity was maintained by the Bombay High Court in ABC v. State of Maharashtra, and the pregnancy's termination was allowed.
After the medical board's recommendation against the termination due to the length of the pregnancy was overturned.
The woman approached the high court and filled a petition for permission to terminate her pregnancy.
Following sonography, it was discovered that the foetus had serious abnormalities and that the infant would be born with mental and physical disabilities.
Furthermore, the court stated that the petitioner takes an informed decision. It's not an easy one.The right to choose is the petitioner right. It is not the medical Board's right.
