Delhi is setting up 53 Fast-Track Special Courts for crimes against women and children.

16 existing temporary FTSCs will be made permanent.

37 new courts will be created to handle additional cases.

The move aims to reduce a backlog of over 17,000 pending cases.

The courts will primarily handle cases under the POCSO Act and rape laws (IPC 376).

The Law Department has finalized the proposal for these courts.

The initiative is part of the government’s push to strengthen women and child safety.

This step demonstrates the government’s commitment to an efficient justice delivery system
