Today, India commemorates the 98th anniversary of the birth of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee (December 25, 2022). Since 2014, Good Governance Day has been observed yearly on the anniversary of Vajpayee's birth.
The Prime Minister stated in a tweet; "tributes to Atal ji on his Jayanti". His impact on India is immeasurable. Millions of people are inspired by his leadership and vision."
At the "Sadaiv Atal" Memorial in New Delhi today on the occasion of the former prime minister's birth anniversary, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah paid tributes to former P.M. Bharat Ratna Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary.
Shri Amit Shah stated in his tweets that Atal ji's patriotism, discipline, and patriotism will always motivate & inspire us to serve our nation.
Vajpayee was elected Prime Minister of India for the first time in 1996, then for a second and third time from 1998 and 2004. Following that, he was bestowed with India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.
In his political career, Vajpayee, who was a prominent member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and later the RSS-affiliated Jana Sangh, held a number of significant positions, including the crucial minister of external affairs.
On August 16, 2018, Vajpayee passed away from an age- related illness.
